Ardebil or Ardabil rugs come from the northern part of Iran, not far from the Caspian Sea. Typical for this type of rug are geometric patterns, which are also often found in village and nomad rugs.
Ardabil carpet has a high quality of about 90,000 to 300,000 knots per square meter. The geometric forms of the design of these carpets are from the Orient. The pile, which is made of wool, is knitted symmetrically. These thin carpets are comfortable floor coverings.
Ardabil has a long and brilliant history in Iranian carpet weaving. The reign of the Safavid dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries marked the peak of Iranian carpet weaving in this region.
